This news make the snow melt even in the harsh finnish winter: Apocalyptica are forging their next piece of noble metal in Helsinki! The cello-rockers Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen, Perttu Kivilaakso and drummer Mikko Sirén are putting final touches on their follow-up record to WORLDS COLLIDE (2007). The recordings of the 7th studio album are mainly directed by Joe Barresi (Tool, Queens Of The Stone Age, Coheed & Cambria) who taped the drums with the band in Los Angeles, California, inJanuary. But now he has travelled to Europe where he forces Eicca and the rest of the band to add the missing string parts.

Some of the new songs were created with the help of producer Howard Benson (Motörhead, Papa Roach, Sepultura), who has already produced the bands 2007-song "I don't care" (featured on WORLDS COLLIDE). This track was a major success for Apocalyptica in the USA. "I don't care" (feat. Three Days Grace-vocalist Adam Gontier) debuted on No.1 in the Billboard Mainstream Rock Charts, also hit the Modern Rock Track Charts on No. 2 and remained in the Top 20 for as long as 50 weeks.

With this success, the band is in best company: Before Apocalyptica only Red Jumpsuit Apparatus ("Face Down"), Finger Eleven ("Paralyzer") and 30 Seconds To Mars with "The Kill" managed similar achievements. In return for their excellent rock services the band got their first  gold award in North America.

The bar is raised high for the new masterpiece, but the finnish cello rockers know how to seduce their fans. They are inviting guest musicians to the studio at the moment. One of them is Dave Lombardo of Slayer fame who will make his fourth drum appearance on an Apocalyptica-album this time. The other rock-colleagues who are willing to lend the finnish cello-rockers their (vocal-)skills are yet to be revealed, but one thing is already certain: Apocalyptica's 7th record is planned for a summer 2010 release. Make sure your ears are ready for the cello-riff-attack!
